Our Pathways programme aims to inspire young people in Y7-13 from all backgrounds, by introducing them to careers in technology whilst developing key employability skills. We are developing long-term school partnerships through in-school workshops and visits to Cisco offices, plus business and technical work experience.
Volunteer for our Pathways programme and inspire young people who may not otherwise have access to Cisco and careers in technology. There are many opportunities for you to get involved, including workshops in schools, and at our Bedfont Lakes (Feltham), Green Park (Reading) and Manchester offices.
Download our Cisco Volunteer Guidance and our STEM resources to deliver a 1 hour workshop in a school local to you.
Volunteer for our 2 hour Smart School or Networking workshops at one of our partner schools close to Cisco offices in Feltham, Reading and Manchester. Or participate in the 4 hour Kids in IT day in Bedfont Lakes.
Our well established work experience programme couldn’t run without Cisco volunteers. You can lead a session, give speed interviews, join the business game, judge as a dragon or invite students to shadow you.
Introducing students to the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) through a group debate on the concept of a ‘Smart School’.
Volunteers will help each group to structure their arguments before presenting back to the class.
Students learn basic principles of networking through an interactive ‘human networking’ task where they simulate the role of a network.
Volunteers will remind them how data flows through a network. You don’t need a technical background.
An on-site visit to Cisco offices where students compete in a hands on coding challenge, before designing an app and pitching it to our judges.
Main volunteers will guide students through the tasks and judges will assess their app creations.

“These workshops are a great way to inspire young people about technology and it is really interesting to see how they approach the challenges and apply their creative minds to them. If you can easily find a way to take a half or full day of out your diary, this is a great and inspiring way to make a difference to young people.”

“I really enjoyed spending time with the students encouraging them to think about technology and the amazing things Cisco enables. I loved the curiosity, the questions, the energy and their appetite to learn about us. It was such a pleasure and I hope I will get a chance to do it again soon!”
